Bf 109 Control Column
Hi all,
My very first post here, thought I would share some images of a Messerschmitt Bf 109 control column that I have sitting on the shelf, it is marked: Fl Number, (47945), and with the Werke Nr. 16784 also on the maker plate, and Geraet Nr 102 - 56A 8 (the A 8 is hard to read and it may be a 6). Bob |

Re: Bf 109 Control Column
Interesting stuff SES, did they unearth anything else ??, we don't hear of a lot of the recovered items that are coming to light now, here in Australia.

Re: Bf 109 Control Column
Hi Bob,
Sorry for the late reply. I am heading Research Group Grove, who are conduction a through survey of Fligerhorst Grove, the most heavily fortified airfield built by the Luftwaffe during WW II. Please see: http://www.gyges.dk/fliegerhorst_grove.htm Aircraft archeology is not our main task, but when we came across this, we simply could not help ourselves. We also found parts of MG81s (breach-block, trigger and sight) and multiple ammo-links for 7.92 mm, 13 mm and 20 mm ammo. bregds SES Last edited by SES; 29th April 2012 at 06:56. |

Re: Bf 109 Control Column
Hi Bob,
Thank you, now don't get addicted to the site , but I do have frequent up-dates. Grove is a fascinating place. We do not only find aircraft parts, but also long forgotten and to-day unrecorded bunkers, Flak emplacements, original barbed wire obstacles and earth field fortifications. The base has been in use by the RDAF since 1945, but large areas have been left untouched and this is where we roam. The Group's "office" is a L 408A Flak command bunker. kind regards SES |
