6. Staffel/II.KGzbV.1
Does anybody here know more about this Staffel?
I'm also looking the emblem of this unit in good quality. I know that the logo have the face of Churchill with a sigar. Thank you in advance. |

Bjoris,
Good quality enough? The source is mentioned on the picture. This emblem is used by the unit during the operations in May 1940 over the Netherlands. Jaap |

Not Churchill
I doubt that this caricature is meant to show Churchill. IMHO it looks very much like the well-known insignia of 8./JG 26. The angry little man brandishing his stick above his head was called Adamson. Now, how did this fighter insignia land on an ol' Ju 52 - I don't know. Perhaps a wounded fighter pilot was not fit for fighters any more and was transferred to a transport unit. Or some member of this crew liked the Adamson and adopted it. Perhaps a friend or a brother of some JG 26 fighter pilot.

Re: 6. Staffel/II.KGzbV.1
The figure "Adamson" was created by the artist Oscar Jacobsson for a Swedish newspaper during the twenties. In the following years the figure became famous all over the world.

Re: 6. Staffel/II.KGzbV.1
Spot on Gerhard
Adamsson was first published in 1920 in Sweden and since Jacobsson also lived in USA during 1922 he managed to sell his comic strips there as well and USA became the first country outside Sweden to publish his little "hero" It also seems very soon after many countries in Europe signed various contracts with him, Germany of course being one of them. The comic strips were published in Sweden between 1920 - 1964. I actually remember it vaguely from my childhood. Cheers Stig |
