Hi All

Anybody know the source of the photo in the above link? I'd like to use a copy of it but unsure who owns it.

Re: Ju 88 1943 defection to RAF Dyce

Hi Junker

I am writing a book on WW2 around NE Scorland.

I am trying to add some pictures to the info I have from the national archives.

The crew picturewould be a useful image.

The website details tends to mirror info in the RAF miseum website. chris commented on a lot of mistakes a few months back with this aircraft and crew.

Re: Ju 88 1943 defection to RAF Dyce

There is a lot of errors in this article. Almost everthing about the German crew is wrong (including Schmids first name and place of birth). He did not defect due to his experience in Spain but more due to problems with his CO at Aalborg

Re: Ju 88 1943 defection to RAF Dyce

There is a very good description of this incident at the Website "Aircrews Remembered"
It doesn't make any mention of his Staffel Kapital Aalborg.

Re: Ju 88 1943 defection to RAF Dyce

The article are filled with errors, so you cant't rely on was is stated in it. It's not based on proper research. I do have Schmid's military personal file, and everything stated on his family relations, in the article, is pure fantasy. And of course he could not fly to England and back without being found out. That is just some of the errors. So if alanatabz is going to write just another article along this line, I will not supply any photos. I have also commented on this incident earlier on this site.
