Dieppe Raid
I wonder if anybody could help answer the following questions;
Did Adjt R.G. Darbins (340 Sqn) die from injuries in captivity or was killed when shot down on 19th August? Was PO J.K. Stewart (64 Sqn) lost to 'friendly fire'? He is noted in the ORB as last being heard to say 'be careful you are firing at me', at the time his squadron (together with 131 Sqn) was engaging Do217's and Fw190's. Thanks for any help. Re: Dieppe Raid
Darbins was rescued but died before his arrival in hospital:

Re: Dieppe Raid
Thanks for that. I see that the aircraft serial appears to be incorrect, the ORB puts it as BL262.

Re: Dieppe Raid
Hmm, yes you're right, they seem to have made a mistake because I have BS179 as being the aircraft of F/Sgt A P F Vilboux (also killed at Dieppe) of 611 Squadron.
