3./KG 27 loss 10.02.1941

Does anybody happen to have more precise information about the He 111 lost by 3./KG 27 on 10th February 1941 than provided in Weiss' chronicle?
I'm looking for the Werknummer and Kennung of this aircraft.

Re: 3./KG 27 loss 10.02.1941

Hello Maciej,

thank you for the interesting sources. Three weeks later Lt Heinzl and his crew were lost.

Gen.Qu. loss report from 5 March 1941:
3.3. I./KG 27 Feindflug Ort: Unbekannt, Ursache: laut Funkspruch Beschuss durch Jäger, Notlandung in Südirland.
He 111 H-5 3664 1G+HL 100%
F Lt Heinzel (divergent spelling), Alfred vermisst
B Fw Voigt, Arthur vermisst
Bf Fw Hengst, Rudolf vermisst
Bm Uffz Rister, Gerd gefallen
Bs Gefr Galler, Max vermisst.

In the „Luftwaffe Kracker Archive“ (based on „Jägerblatt“ 4/2004) is noted:
Heinzl, Alfred Lt
POW 3 March, 1941 after aerial combat with Hurricanes over Tuskar Rock during an anti-shipping mission at Port Townsville in the Irish Sea. Engine damage and one seriously wounded crew caused them to make a force landing at Rostoonstown Strand, County Wexford Ireland. The four survivors destroyed the ac before being captured. Remaining crew: Fw Arthur Voigt (POW), Obs; Fw Rudolf Hengst (POW), R/O; Uffz C. „Gerd“ Rister (DOW shortly thereafter; bur Glencree Cem. Gr 13), Mech. And Gefr Matthias „Max“ Galler or Galle (POW), Gnr. All were interned at the Camp Curragh, Kildare Co. Ireland.

Re: 3./KG 27 loss 10.02.1941

Hello Leo,

Yes, I'm aware about this too. However, in that case they flew a different a/c. The one force-landed in Ireland wore a name "Die 5 Schreckensteiner III", whilst the a/c supposedly damaged on 10.02.1941 was named "Die Vier Schreckensteiner II" [source: photos in Weiss' book].

Regards,
Maciej
