Tomas Polak's STALIN'S FALCONS
Good morning Gentlemen,
I nearly finished working through Tomas Polak’s STALIN’S FALCONS. It was very enjoyable to read so many biographies one after the other. Many unclear issue could be made clear with Mr Abramov’s website. Some questions remain: 1. Dmitrii Chvatov (7 kills), was he really the first Soviet WW2 ace ? 2. Ivan Gaydayenko (29 kills), how many in MiG-3/P-40 ? 3. Petr Kozachenko (11 kills in China, 4 in Finland, 12+8sh in WW2), how many in I-153/LaGG-3 ? 4. Dmitrii Kudymov (at least 12+29sh kills), how many in I-16 ?, decimals of the shares ? 5. Juan Lario (Spanish, 34+8sh kills), which planes did he fly in WW2 ? how many kills in Spitfires ? 6. Vladimir Matveyev (13 kills), how many in I-16 ? 7. Alexandr Yevdokimovich Novikov (15 killls), how many in I-16 ? 8. Alexei Pashkevich (16 kills), pilots of his regiment scored the first MiG-15 kill, was it a MiG-15bis ? 9. Nikolai Sdobnov (5 kills), pilot of 48. BBAP, which plane did he fly ? 10. Viktor Sklyarov (7+9sh kills in I-16), decimals of the shares ? 11. Stepan Pavlovich Suprun (45 kills, at least 11 in MiG-3), definite score ? 12. Viktor Talalikhin (11 kills), how many in I-16 ? 13. Ivan Tarasov (19 kills), how many in La-7 ? 14. Sergei Tarkhov (5 kills), which plane did he fly ? 15. Dmitrii Titarenko (23 kills), how many in MiG-3/La-7 ? 16. Ivan Tushev (15+1sh kills), how many in P-40 ? 17. Ivan Yevsevyev (4+12sh kills), decimals of the shares ? 18. Vasilii Alexandrovich Zaitsev (36+19sh kills ), how many in MiG-3/LaGG-3/La-5 ? Re: Tomas Polak's STALIN'S FALCONS
Good evening Michael,
SB - this is SB. SB-2 was invented by Western "researchers". I do not know the modification, but most likely the SB with 2*M-103A is late. Best regards, Kirill |

Re: Tomas Polak's STALIN'S FALCONS
Hello Kirill,
alright, so I'll note down the plane type as Tupolev SB. Can you tell me the given names of Mr. Chugunov and Mr. Rybak ? Cheers, Michael |

The memoirs are very inaccurate. I found operational documents and in them the type of Sdobnov plane on 25.06.1941 - Pe-2. "gunner-radio operator Rybak" I can not find - probably in memoirs inaccuracy. As of 06.07.1941, the Pe-2 is also likely. In the award document of Sdobnov for these two missions, his crew shot down not 5 planes (as write in memoirs), but three were shot down and one damaged. In the award documents of Chugunov for the same period, 4 shot down together with the gunner-radio operator are indicated. Of these, two are personally a navigator. best regards, Kirill |

Re: Tomas Polak's STALIN'S FALCONS
Hello Kirill,
a Pe-2 ? Oh no ! I was hoping for a Tupolev ace... It is possible to find out which aircraft 48. BBAP was equipped with in June/July1941 ? Cheers, Michael |

Re: Tomas Polak's STALIN'S FALCONS
Good evening Kirill,
that looks very much like a Pe-2 ace. Thanks for checking. Are there any notable Tupolev pilots known to you ? Have a nice Tuesday, Michael |
