1st. Lieutenant William H. Johns Jr. from 404th Fighter Group

Dear community,

according to MACR 13074, at 16th March 1945, 1st. Lt. William H. Johns Jr. from 508th FS / 404th FG in his P-47D 42-25723 was hit by Flak in the Altenkirchen area (Westerwald region in western Germany). As noted in the 404th FG Combat History "Leap off...", Lt. Johns Jr. has been "Killed in Action".
Does anyone has some more information about Lt. Johns Jr. and the closer circumstances of his loss / death?
Any help is welcome.

Best regards, Oliver

Re: 1st. Lieutenant William H. Johns Jr. from 404th Fighter Group

Dear Alain57,

thanks a lot for your help and information.

Background of my inquiry is a so far uncleared P-47 crash site in the Buchholz area near Altenkirchen.

1st Lt. Johns Jr. was one of the possible pilots in this case.

Best regards, Oliver
