Jagdgeschwader 52 losses in April and May of 1945

Hello,
In "1. Fallschirm-Panzer-Division Hermann Göring" by Karl-Heinz Schmeelke, I found information that in April of 1945 Fw 190s and Bf 109s of the Jagdgeschwader 52 took part in fights against the Polish 2nd Army (the Eastern Front). I did read a lot of books on units of the Polish 2nd Army and archival army's documents, finding some claims for shoot down enemy aircraft, mainly Bf 109s and Fw 190s. As far as I am aware that Jagdgeschwader 52 wasn't the only unit to use Fw 190s during fights against the Polish 2nd Army, I am curious whether any JG 52's losses from this period are known. Can anyone shed some light on this topic or point out which source would help?

Best regards
Bartłomiej

Hi Bartiomiej

Firstly losses do exist for JG52 for this period on the mikrofilms, but it's incomplete, and I'm pretty sure that JG52 never had Fw190's for the entire war.
I think also that Walter Wolfrum and Peter Duttmann kept records of when they were shot down, in Duttmann's case that was often.

Kind Regards

Johannes

Perhaps you can start making a list of which losses you found archival evidence for in records of Polish 2nd Army.....look specifically for.....date, time, location, type etc. then we might possibly find answers.

Thank you for correcting my knowledge, the descriptions' in Karl-Heinz Schmeelke's book are often incorrect, so this might be the case.

Hello,
Could anyone point me toward where I can look for the above-mentioned records of JG 52 losses or at least shed a bit of light on them?

Best regards,
Bartłomiej
