Em/landing in area Duplyovo Istra district. Maybe it's claims of 41 IAP (Terentiy F. Miholap ?) and 11 IAP (Pyotr T. Logvinov). There are so many pictures of this plane.

Second Ju-88 it's maybe claim of 11 IAP (Boris А. Vasilyev)

Thank you for that link with the V.V.S. side of the story! It is totally unknown to me. Do you happen to know if there are Russian sites about those IAP units or about those airmen you mentioned?

I checked here ( ) and can see they were NOT aces though...so I can not where to find more about them.

I am not aware about the Ju 88 photographed at the Square. Are there Propaganda photos from this still available on the Russian Archives?

I really wish some of you from Russia could publish in English as well. Your side of the war was not too much published and mostly on your own language, so for us from South America, it is very very hard to find material and even comprehend. Nevertheless, some amazing stories and books/articles have appeared recently and am aware that Hungarian Historians too are doing quite magnificently here and other Forums. Congratulations anyway and thanks for the kind link and help.

Hello Adriano,

I think the photos were from Life magazine , Pawel Burchard put them on TOCH in a thread dated 1-12-08 'Link to Interesting Life Photographs ' . I searched under 'Stuckmann 'and found it ok but the link to the photos did not work , they also included photo of 3 from the crew of Uffz Theuser of Stab/KG 3 shot down 14-9-41

there are more than 30 photographs of this aircraft - most of them were made on Sverdlov Square (now Theater Square near the Bolshoi Theater). At least two photographs taken at the place of emergency landing - the location of Duplyovo is indicated.

Kapitan (later major) Logvinov Pyotr Trofimovich (1912-22.01.1943 MIA/KIA) - Comander AE 11 IAP, later Comander 12 IAP and 1 GwIAP. Claims - 5+1 (according to some sources, including 07/25/1941; 08/30/1941; 09/24/1941). Two Order of Red Banner in 1941.

Leytenant Vasilyev Boris Andreyevich from 11 IAP (1915-24.10.1941 MIA) - Rammed Ju-88 25.07.1941 (or 26.07.1941 according to some sources). Order of Lenin. http://airaces.narod.ru/all13/vasilyev.htm

? Ml. Leytenant Miholap Terentiy Fyodorovich from 41 IAP (1918-16.08.1941 MIA)

According to some reports, these Russian pilots may be involved in cases of the loss of two Ju-88s from 07/25/1941, but these are only versions. The Air Defense Corps reported the destruction of five aircraft, of which three were confirmed (one burned down completely, and three pilots were captured from the other two)

If my memory is correct, the life photographs in Moscow were taken by Margaret Bourke-White (sic?) and were at one time available in the online Time-Life photo archive at a very good resolution. I still have the original Life Magazine pages, as I clipped every aircraft photo I could find in Life magazine during and after the war.

The spelling is correct. It appears the photos, among others, were collected into a book titled Shooting the Russian War.
