Etain-Rouvres 10.08.1944
Hello,
in "Luftwaffe Airfields 1935-1945" by Henry L. de Zeng IV is to France/Etain the following remark listed: 10.08.1944: TGr. 30 reported the loss of 8 x He 111 H-20s that were shot up on the ground by fighters at Etain-Rouvres landing ground. Who knows the source (Dokument) for this information? Thanks in advance. Kaus |

Re: Etain-Rouvres 10.08.1944
It's confirmed by an ULTRA intercept in National Archives file HW 5/563:
CX/MSS/R273(C),6 From RIFOI ((Transport Gruppe)) 30, No. 2008, to GEPCA ((Transport Fliefü)) 1, Ops. Staff, (smudge), dated evening 10/8: Strength return for 10/8 1) ((Total crews)) 55To strength: 1 He 111 H-20 from Heinkel Rostock. Off strength: 8 He 111 H-20, shot up by enemy fighters Rouvers+. NOTES: 1) Source almost certain (2) above from ARC Metz to Luftgau VII. Compare 1./TG 30 at Niedermendig on 20/7 (CX/MSS/T254/33) and Stab and 2. to Thionville, 3. to Trier Euren on 6/7 (CX/MSS/T240/95). 2) + As given. Doubtless error for Rouvres (40 km WNW of Metz). |
