I'd imagine it was more a case of them finding themselves in the unfortunate position of being hit by gunfire from Spitfire's attacking other aircraft, than the Allied pilots trying to kill them in their parachutes. Considering the dangers from Luftwaffe fighter in the skies around Dieppe, it's unlikely Allied pilots would have the time or inclination to try and deliberately hit such a defenceless target. However it's not a rare claim, in Balke's KG2 book, Oblt Borner of 4./KG2 makes a similar one.

As Chris says, that position is the only one given and with four Do217's being lost from 6./KG2 at this time, is unlikely you'll be able to identify a more accurate one.

My question is why the parts of Do 217 ended up in the bunker at Sainte Marguerite sur Mer.
It was used as a dustbin.
Were the parts transported from another place or were they a nuisance to the owner of the land around the bunker...? ?
According to the account given by Hugo Lemser to the German authorities, the location should be in a place where there are cliffs, therefore from Ault coming from Eindhoven to the vicinity of Sainte Marguerite sur Mer.

In my listing of Do 217 of the 6. KG 2 I have only 3 planes : the 1217, the 5453 and the 5469.

Good luck, but as Chris says, sadly there isn't anymore detailed information in that book regarding the losses at Dieppe. It lists all Do217 losses, but doesn't add anything to their locations.

Resurrecting this older thread because there are accounts from shot down Do 217 crew members available to download from the Bundesarchiv. These are included in file RL 7-3/598 »Berichte und Vernehmungen zum alliierten Landungsunternehmen am 19. Aug. 1942 in Dieppe (1942–1943)«.
