Question Bf 109 G lost early 1944

Hello,

I got some photos of belly landed Bf 109 G-6/R6 (with large tail/old canopy) from a privat source. One photo will published on my website later with the agreement of the owner.

The known facts are:
- Pilot was a Fw. Müller
- Unit was 7./JG 54
- Location was Suhlendorf, Landkreis Uelzen
- Marking was "white 3"

Anyone know the first name of the pilot?
Is the WNr. known?

On the 08. April 1944 was a big bomber raid over the town and there was a fight with german fighters. It can be also the loss date. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

David/Falcon

Re: Bf 109 G lost early 1944

Hi Remi,

I think we can ignore this Fw 190 loss.
Possible that it was an other "Müller". But the name is here in germany very fluently. I must remove the "fact" of the name "Müller" to this Bf 109 G-6, because it comes from an old eyewitness, and this dont must be sure.
It there an other loss from this unit with an other pilot?

Re: Bf 109 G lost early 1944

Hi,
Bob Wartburg´s JG 54 site lists following loss for that day and unit:

Uffz. Ritter Kurt, 7./JG54 , Luftkampf, KIA., Bf 109 G-5, WNr.15574, white 9, 100%, Dedelsdorf/Uelzen

Hope this is of some help

Jan

Re: Bf 109 G lost early 1944

W.Nr. 15 574 was an G-6 and not an G-5.

Best wishes

Re: Bf 109 G lost early 1944

Thanks to all for your additional informations. I got now the information that the pilots name was written below the photos in the album, so we can be more sure that "Feldwebel Müller" is correctly.
But where is the loss?

I got the info from Anders Hjortsberg that it was a Messerschmitt build by Erla Leipzig. Camoflage and the G-5 bulge on the cowling speaks for it. This will reduce the possible factory numbers.
He painted a nice profile that you can see here:
http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=6244
Thanks to him for the nice work! :-)

Btw... I forgot. The plane made the belly landing after a fight with an enemy plane and there are some bullet holes in the cowling and the rear fuselage. Possible there exists an allied victory claim for it?
