Fw190A8 shot down in Duclair Le Trait area 7 June 1944

Hello

Please find attached the picture I have of a Fw190 A-8 belly landed near Le Trait -Duclair area (Normandy 30 km west Rouen) on 7 june 1944 at 10: 00.

This is a machine belonging to a first group wearing a black 7 or red 7 (is the film used was not an orthochromatic one ...)

I do not find any relevant information in the archives I have .

Any information is wellcome

All the best Eric

Sir,

While I have no official loss record of this aircraft, I do have what I believe are two additional photos of the same aircraft from an American "GI" source. I have it listed in my database as "Black 7+," but as you say, it very well could be "Red 7+." All other details of it match your photo perfectly: missing canopy, spinner, rudder, and wing cannon; the style of its Balkenkreuze and Hakenkreuze; and the position and shape of its bent prop. I am certain enough of its identity that I am correcting my location of, "near Reims, France, to yours. I look forward to any member’s additional information.

Best regards all,

Steve Sheflin

Actually it could be any colour but white. Perhaps a direct comparison of all photos will allow to determine most likely colour. I am very interested in identification of this likely 56 FG victim.

Re: Fw190A8 shot down in Duclair Le Trait area 7 June 1944

hello

The location and the time of this event are confirmed by a report I have done by the French police . In the back ground the crane of Le Trait harbour are visible.

For your information , this picture was taken slightly higher but alongside the River Seine . And Le Trait was a town alongside the river Seine , with a harbourg and ship construction factory . In 1944 they produced parts of U-Boat there . Circa 5 miles from there the was alsos a seaplane factory Latecoère (still on the Siver Seine )

On 7 june 1944

At 7:04 and 7:05 , I./G26 claims to victories West Rouen ( Le Trait is West Rouen) (P-51) by Lt Söffing and Lt Günther .

One the other hand 1./JG26 lost pf FW190A-8 South West Rouen "white 2" W.Nr 680186 and another one W.Nr. 730456 "white 5"

Thanks for heping me .

I Have attached the picture with a better resolution .

Eric

Eric
The mentioned combat was between 133 Wg and I/JG26. Both German losses were high speed impacts, so it is neither of them.
Personally, I do not think it is a black 7. It could be blue for example but a comparison with the other photos is necessary.

This is confirmed by the 2 claimed victories , on P-51 as 133 Wing was equipped with mustangs III , am I right ?

1./JG26 had white tactical numbers outlined it black (confirmed by photos)
2/JG26 had black tactical numbers (confirmed by photos)
3./JG26 had yellow tactical numbers
4./JG26 had bleu tactical numbers outlined in white (confirmed by photos)

it could be a 2./JG26 machine
