Collisions with balloons at Crewe 20/3/43
Hi guys
I've read that on 20 March 1943, a Wellington from Litchfield and an Oxford from Cranwell both collided with barrage balloons at Crewe; all crews/passengers killed (12 in total). Has anyone further details - I assume the weather was bad in that area at the time. Cheers Brian |

Re: Collisions with balloons at Crewe 20/3/43
Brian,
Wellington Mk III was X3547 from 27 OTU based at Litchfield. 8 crew members killed. Crashed at 15.20 hrs. Details are in Bomber Command Losses Vol 7 covering OTUs. Do you need crew names? As for the Oxford this was DF477 of RAFC but I have no details of the crew; presumably a crew of 4. Details from the Oxford File by ABH
