ID of Bf109s
At ~:35 into the video there is some Jumo powered Bf109s taking off.
What model and what unit are they from? Thanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCW0...ature=youtu.be |

Re: ID of Bf109s
This could be the 5. Staffel of JG 234, sometime in the spring of 1938 (i.e., the first examples of the Messerschmitt fighter, Bf 109 B, the Gruppe received in November 1937). If so, the aircraft could be either the Bf 109 B or Bf 109 D-1 (from March 1938). I believe that the original footage was colourized, but not very well, the tail band with swastika should have been red. This would imply that the identification numerals were also red encircled in white, and not gray, as they appear on the video.

Re: ID of Bf109s
Good stuff sidney, thanks.
It looks like the swastika has been edited out, to me. |
