Question NA114, Halifax, 10. Sqn

On 05.01.1945, Halifax NA114, ZA+K, 10. Squadron, was shot down near Lemgo.

I am searching for information, especially the crash site, circumstances of the crash and the crew.

One of the crew members was Flight Sergeant D A Bullock

Leo, shot down by nightfighter, is this confirmed? Other sources reported, hit by Flak from Airfield Detmold and exploded.

Re: NA114, Halifax, 10. Sqn

I have quoted the entry in the Bomber Command Loss Card with reference to the translated German loss report KE 10089. In extracts is noted: "Place of loss: by Lemgo. Cause of loss: Nightfighter".
If the German Luftwaffe authorities have noted "Nightfighter" I have no reason to doubt the German informations from 1945.

I know other sources: .... shot down by nightfighter and/or flak from Detmold Airfield, crashing near Lemgo. The Halifax exploded and wreckage covered an area Wahmbeck-Wiembeck-Barkhausen ...

Leo

Known Victory Claims - Otto Fries

05.01.1945 - Lancaster - N. Groningen - 19:30 - Western Front

Quite far away from Lemgo and a lancaster bomber

Theo says Dortmund-Hannover and Halifaxes and Lancasters were easily misidentified

Hello Spurensucher,

you can get clarity by an inquiry to the British Ministry of Defence, asking for a copy of the „Investigation Report“ and the German KE-report. The MoD helds many oft he captured German reports, here: KE 10089.
Some users of the former database „Lostaircraft.com“ succeeded in getting informations by a Freedom of Information (FOI) request.

Are you sure ? For my opinion the reports which held by the MoD are strictly closed to the public. No FOI.
