Spitfire Mk Vb of François de Labouchčre

Hello,

could someone help me with a source of photos depicting his Mk Vb with cat emblem?
I have only one photo published in Aero Journal No. 48, which portays him with part of the aircraft with the emblem behind. Do any other exist? I've found some different info on serial/code of the aircraft (BL803 or EN908/GW-L or GW-Y).

Thank you in advance.

Re: Spitfire Mk Vb of François de Labouchčre

Hello Maciej.

The Spitfire Mk Vb of Cne de Labouchčre is the GW-Y / EN908

The serie of photos with him in front this plane with his mascot in hand and painted on his plane were taken after the 30th july 1942 when he became the Flight leader of B Flight of 340 Sqn. The plane was previously the kite of Cne Fayolle who took the command of 174 Sqn.

The Spitfire BL803 / GW-L was the kite of Cne Mouchotte the Flight leader of A Flight. of 340 Sqn.

Hope these infos usful for you.

Hello Many,

thank you for reply.

As I understand that there is more than one photo, can you tell me where I can find the other?

BR,
Maciej

Hello Maciej

Yes There are few photos of this plane.

What do you look for exactly, and why you need these photos ?

All these questions because I work on this pilot. I am in touch with his family.

Thank you.

Maciej,

Many Souffan forgot to say that a very excellent book on n°340 published recently.

Its title is "Le Groupe de Chasse Ile de France 1941-1945, n°340 sqdn". The author is Frederic Bruyelle.

Feedback and details here :

http://aerostories.celeonet.fr/~aero...ticle2869.html

There are prints of a/c of de Labouchčre and a profile

I am afraid it is hard to find this one in Poland but feel free to contact me off-board.

Bertrand

Thank you both for your replies.

I've simply found a photo in Aero Journal 48 and became interested in this Spitfire like in all WW2 aircraft with various cat emblems. As I rather research Luftwaffe and its Allies, I don't have too many references on the other side so decided to put question here.

Re: Spitfire Mk Vb of François de Labouchčre

My dear Bertrand.

I didn’t forget, I only do not want make publicity for this book even it is good & weel done (not very excellent) because, you know perfectly that I worked (at the beginning) in this book and no very little thanks in this book. It is not important. I will survive. But this author didn’t credit my photographs that he used without my written permission.

I do not question here the work (that I respect, and it is a good work, I repeat) of the author but its manners to do. Yes, it is disrespectful towards myself

If there are 2 nice profiles (in this book) of GW-L and GW-Y among others, it is because I was, in these times, in charge to give orders and documentations to the illustrator. It was my own documentations (for these 2 profiles).

Hello Maciej.

I have seen the photograph on AeroJournal n°48, and I repeat I have others photographs of this serie from the Family collection. So Please contact me off board.

By Advance Thank you.

Ps: Bertrand I will contact you off board.
