Hello,

I think that this is the a/c we carry in the EoE Luft Loss List as:

"17 March 1940: 1./JG2Messerschmitt Bf109E-3. Crashed on landing at Frankfurt-Rebstock due to control failure. Pilot unhurt. Aircraft 40% damaged but repairable."

Obviously, the damage is more like 80% and not repairable.

Hello Larry,

Thank you for your input.
- March 1940 was Snowy?
- Its' an E-1 from 3./JG 2.

We have two aspects here:
Who is the pilot pictured on two photos ?? Though I Wonder if the guy sat on cowling is the same than the first one pictured in that early heavy flight fatigue???
And, again, March was Snowy ???

Franck,

Yes, March was quite snowy in Germany. Obviously, if our ID of the incident is correct, the a/c must be from 3./JG2 and not 1./JG2, as indicated above. The 3 Staffel "Horrido" pennant on the cowling is quite prominent in some of the photos of this incident.

Hi Larry,

OK, March was Snowy. Beyond that I don't know.
Bruch %?? It's difficult. Of course the plane is cut in two pieces but was it that heavy?? I think there is a difference between "open" and "broken".
Mombeek is not giving a lot and no Bruch % seems to match.

I think the only way is to put a name on those pictured guys.

And to link the Döberitz "Gelbe 10" with somebody; because the Jaenish emblem is similar but it's not the same while, for me, Gelbe 10 emblem on this last picture and the one on Döberitz machine is the same ...
So: Legion Condor veteran or Jaenish Kette?

Regards, Franck.

Hi Guys,

Back on this one:

I got this new - old eBay auction - Gelbe 10 in my data:
Look Under the canopy Inside red circle...
An E-1. Same "1" style an position. Markings on propeller blades; same camouflage characteristic just over charger air scoop. Same ring on spinner tip Just visible on this one:
http://www.me109.info/display.php?a=e&fid=7670

and "Mickey's head top" Inside the circle I drawn.

All in all it seems to be the same; but still without pilot's name, place WNr. and so on...

Regards, Franck.

Please send me the pic without the circle, Franck. I'll add it to the others... It's a good find! The sign on the cowling seems to be here also incomplete.
