Which aircraft have been successful?
Hi,
Colleagues, Please help me find out which RAF planes attacked a convoy of three F-barges on July 28, 1942 near Sidi Barrani and burned two of them. The first attack was at 06.45, 20 miles south-west of Sidi Barrani by two planes - one barge was set on fire by shelling from onboard weapons. The second attack at 12.30 5 miles south-west of Sidi Barrani by six aircraft, one of which was shot down - the second barge was set on fire and washed ashore. Can it be known which squadrons reported successful attacks in the area? |

4 from 272 and 4 from 459. A a/c from 459 ditched. Search for National Archives of Australia and you can then search for 459 Squadron History and it is online. Russell |
