Walrus stolen by Irish Nationalists 1942
Hi

I've only just become aware of an incident that occurred on 9 January 1942, when four Irish Nationalists stole a Walrus (L2301) and attempted to fly to Cherbourg with the intention of defecting. Intercepted by Spitfires and ordered to return.

Has anyone further information, please? Identities of those concerned? Fate?

Still no evidence of actually of 'Thornton' wanting to join the Luftwaffe though?
