Currently on ebay are three photos of aircraft from the 14Target Tow Squadron at:

Harris Neck GA (RTU) letter "V"; 43-24137 and 43-24143 were both in accidents in 1944 , 18 July and 3 June respectively. They had P-39s too.

Is there any Internet source for this?

Reason I ask is because I downloaded "from somewhere" the stateside US training codes for Basic, Advanced and Transition training (single, twin and four-engined aircraft) and Harris Neck is not among them, at least not for the letter V

Checking Harris Neck on the 'net it sure was a training base alright, but wikipedia of course does not give much detail, except two FBS training units.

When these photos were taken it seems there was only an assigned BU to the place (346th) which thus presumably handled the aircraft and training.

Now, if Harris Neck is unknown to me, I also wonder how many other training facilities I never have heard about. Presumably these replacement training units were separate from the transition training done elsewhere.
Do you have more details about those?

Harris Neck is under "Transition and Specialised Training 3rd AF ( single engine)--here which you probably saw (coded "V").....I'm sure the webmaster can help.

Yes, I have the losses site, even if I did not check it up this time, it was Harris Neck I was after.

Good to know the transition training on that site (which is what I used....) seems to be complete (dare I say that?) after all.

I assume that the number 141 above the 10AB on the tail is a number appertaining to that unit as it doesn't fit the known Serial range 38-472/38-484?

Correct. This YP-37 is supposed to be the last one built 38-484

There is an interesting P-47D also on sale now (well, the photo that is... )

Considering the code starting with a V and checking the listing we have, could this be Bradley Field CT? That is the only listed field using code V and P-47s....

Well as you say, using the useful link provided by Nick, you would have to think so. All new to me though. Looking at the columns providing the type of aircraft fown, presumably that is the main types operated and would not necessarily preclude odd examples of other types of aircraft or not? No doubt Nick will have more tomorrow.

I was hoping you should notice my slight hesitation above....

When it comes to US Training Units I am indeed very uncomfortable but when I read Wikipedia about Harris Neck it felt like that base was a bit out by 1944.

Too late at night to try and read up on the other listed V bases...I just have to sl....
