Thanks, I know what these panels were for, but the weird thing is their shape and teardrop bulge.

Thin wing, fat round drum magazine. See also Spitfire, Hurricane, etc...

The shape of the panel will depend upon the underlying structure and the need to extract the magazine and indeed probably the gun. Without knowing more, I can't say whether the shape is weird or not.

In this drawing I have summarized all the known types of lower panels and, as you can see, the one in the photo is unique, which does not look like any other type. HTH

The panel with teardrop-shaped bulges can be spotted on some Fw 190 A-0s.
