Glory Seekers

In the RAF they were known as "pot hunters", those pilots who actively sought glory and fame. Surprisingly Leonard Cheshire was one, Guy Gibson another.

In the Luftwaffe glory hunters were known as suffering from "sore throat" or "neck itch". Gollob, Wicks, Galland, Graf and Rudel are just some that come to mind. Anyone know the actual German term for it?

Did the USAAF have a term for such behaviour? Or being such a brash people that sort of behaviour wasn't seen as unusual?
