Airfield location

Hi guys,

I'm trying to find the location of the airfield in the photo. Hoping someone can ID it from the distinct hanger in the background. The Meteor is from 13 Squadron. I've tried searching the 'net for various airfields in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Alex

Re: Airfield location

Alex. Maybe Akrotiri Cyprus? there's another photo of WB177 at 12MU Kirkbride in Cumbria 1957 still coded "C". She actually looks in better condition than in your photo, the finish (Medium Sea Grey / PRU Blue) just visible.

Re: Airfield location

Hi Nick,

Thanks for your reply. I also have a photo of a 208 Sqn Meteor FR.9 at the same location. With it being a unique looking hanger I thought it would be easy enough to identify, but that does not appear to be the case.

Re: Airfield location

Alex. I thought it might be the re-built hangar in background ?
I presume they were at Kirkbride for disposal courtesy of the MoS.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for your reply. I might have to broaden my horizons a bit.
