Top MiG aces and scorers by type

Good evening,

Mikoyan-Gurevich is a major supplier of fighter planes starting with the MiG-1 in 1940.
I tried to find out the top scorers of each type:
  • MiG-3: Sergey Makarov - 13,99 kills
  • MiG-15: Zhao Baotong - probably at least 5 kills
  • MiG-15bis: Nikolay Sutyagin - 22 kills
  • MiG-17: Le Quang Trung and Nguyen Phi Hung - 5 kills each
  • MiG-19: Pham Hung Son - 1,5 kills
  • MiG-21: Nguyen Van Coc - 9 kills
  • MiG-21bis: Auda, Zeki, Nawfal, Sesic - 1 kill each
  • MiG-23: Ahmad Sabbah - 3 kills
  • MiG-25: Mohammed Rayyan and Advan Hassan Yassin - 3 kills each
  • MiG-29: Gaurav Chibber - 2 kills
The MiG-1, MiG-9, MiG-27 and MiG-35 likely scored no kills at all.

Cheers,

Michael

Re: Top MiG aces and scorers by type

The Mig-1 was flown in combat in the early days of the Russo-German war see the book Air battles Over the Baltic; The Air War on 22 June 1941- The Battle for Stalin's Baltic Region Mikial Timin. Sadly for the Mig-1 and 3 pilots the plane machine guns did not work.

Re: Top MiG aces and scorers by type

I have found no record officially of any MiG-1 making a victory claim in Timin's book he has:
MiG-1 in the Baltic Special Military District 22 June 1941:
21 IAP-1
10 IAP-1
241 SHAP-1
15 IAP-4
31 IAP -24

page 241 10 IAP a Squadron Commander attacking a German recon plane but the guns jammed
page 342 has the 31 IAP the morning of 25 June 41 with 10 MiG 1/3s and 1 I-16

in the color profiles the book has 2 MiG-1s of the 31 IAP captured near Riga.

Good evening James,

thanks for your info which implies that 31. IAP is the most promising unit for finding a MiG-1 scorer.

Have a nice Thursday,

Michael

Lorenzo Alberto Pérez Pérez replaces Gaurav Chiber as MiG-29 top scorer (2 kills), see also my MiG-29 thread:
