Me 262s at Juvincourt?

Good evening,

http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/album....&pictureid=642

The copy of this photo in Wolfgang Dierich, Kampfgeschwader 'Edelweis', (1975) between pp. 48 and 49 is captioned: "A pair of Me 262s of I./KG 51 taking off from Juvincourt in July 1944 shortly after the Allied landings."

The copy of this photo in Smith & Creek, Me 262 Volume Two, (1998) p. 362 is captioned: "Two Me 262s of Kommando Schenck take off at dusk from Juvincourt on another mission to harass Allied troops in Normandy, July 1944."

The copy of this photo in Robert Forsyth with Eddie Creek, Me 262 Bomber and Reconnaissance Units, (2012), p. 21 is captioned: "Two Me 262s of Einsatzkommando Schenck take off from Juvincourt at dusk to attack Allied targets around the Seine in August 1944."

I found the above copy of the photo on PINTREST this afternoon. It is the best I have seen so far and the "yellow B" can clearly be seen on the nearer aircraft.

Jan Horn in Das Flurschaden Geschwader, (2010), p. 133, identifies 9K+BL as Werk-Nr. 130180.

Was this aircraft at Juvincourt in August 1944?

best regards,

Jim

That’s quite a find, Jim.

As far as I’ve found, BL wasn’t at Juvincourt (see here) but a BL was lost on 5 October 1944, which was still very early in the jet era for I./KG 51.

Thank you, Nick.

That means the photo has been wrongly captioned.
