Hi all,
Is there any one who could assist me in my search for further information regarding Uffz H. Hermann from the I./NJG 1? He was the observer who flew with Fw Kollak. Thanks in advance. Cheers |

Re: Information regarding Uffz H. Hermann NJG 1
Hello,
I might be able to help because Hans Hermann was member of the 1./NJG 1, part of the I./NJG 1 based at Venlo. Best regards, Marcel

Re: Information regarding Uffz H. Hermann NJG 1
Hello,
Hans Hermann was born 24 Feb.1919. He and Kollak were in the Luftwaffe already when they got to know eachother at Schleissheim airfield. Then they both went to the Erg.Zerstörergruppe Vaerlose. They flew their first missions when posted to the 1./ZG 76 in June 1940. As per 1. August 1940 they were sent to the 1./NJG 1 at Güthersloh. Between 1 August 1941 and 22 Jan.1942 the 1./NJG 1 (with Kollak and Hermann) were stationed at St.Trond. After their return to Venlo, the 1./NJG 1 was part of the I./NJG 1 until May 1942 when it was renamed into 7./NJG 4 as part of the new III./NJG 4 at Juvincourt/France. During their career in the I./NJG 1 this crew had 8 nocturnal victories, all with help of searchlights. In May/June 1943 they were temporarily detached to their old unit 1./NJG 1 and here, Kollak and Hermann scored three bombers in the very same night when Major Werner Streib made the operational maiden flight with a Heinkel He219. Best regards, Marcel

Re: Information regarding Uffz H. Hermann NJG 1
Hello Chris,
You might be right about his Christian name, but not all parents gave their children Christian names. The only info I have is his first name Hans. By the way, Hans Hermann died 5 July 1983, Kollak a few years earlier on died 6 Feb. 1980, both relatively young. Best regards, Marcel
