Wolfgang Wollenweber is coming to Finland

Dear forum members,

It is my great pleasure to inform you that our tradition to invite foreign veteran pilots to Finland continues also this year:

Oberleutnant (Ing.) Wolfgang Wollenweber is visiting Finland in December.

Mr Wollenweber (born in 1922) started his career in Luftwaffe flying Bf 110 in 13.(Z)/JG 5 in Norway and Finland 1943–44. After that he was transferred to Germany to continue his studies. Later he volunteered for Reichsverteidigung and got training for Fw 190 and Me 163. He spent the last weeks of the war flying He 162 jet fighter in JG 1.

He was awarded with EK I and II, Frontflugspange in Silber and Finnish Cross of Liberty, 4th Class.

Mr Wollenweber will give a presentation at the Finnish Aviation Museum (near the Helsinki-Vantaa airport) on Saturday, December 14th at 13.00 o´clock.

I have translated his book Die Reichsadler and it has recently been published in Finnish.

Please read more details about his visit here:

(Unfortunately only in Finnish)

Best regards,

on behalf of the Finnish Aviation Museum Society

Re: Wolfgang Wollenweber is coming to Finland

Dear all,

Mr Wollenweber´s visit was a success. The auditorium of the Finnish Aviation Museum was full (200 seats) and I believe that both our guest and the audience were satisfied.
Please find a few pics on website of the Finnish Aviation Museum Society, unfortunately the text is only in Finnish:

A Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanomat made a short video story about the visit. During the first minutes you will hear mostly my and the reporter´s voice over Wollenweber, but during the last minute you can hear him talk in private interview after the presentation.

I must add that Mr Wollenweber is a really nice guy, a real gentleman and he has a very sharp and clear memory.

Merry Christmas to all forum members from Finland,
Raimo Malkamäki
