Fw. Freidank 11./JG1, mia August 23, 1944 over France

Hi all,

please do you more details about fate of Fw. Freidank? Do you know his first name?
In my list of members od FFS A/B Stubendorf is Uffz. Günther Freidank, is it the same airman?

Thanks, Jan

Hello Jan,

in the loss table of III./JG 1 in Jagdfliegerverbände Vol. 13/IV is listed:
25 Aug (not 23 Aug) 1944 11./JG 1 Fw Freidank – no first name – Luftkampf P-51, Raum Soissons, Fallschirmabsprung, unverletzt, Bf 109 G-6 – no Werknummer -, 100%.

Regards
Leo

Thanks, gentlemen.

My source is http://franckruffino.chez.com/My-Site/Victory_32.htm
if I understand correctly, he bailed out but after then he's missing?

but the main what I'm looking for is his first name and if he is identical to Günther Freidank.

I have Fw Günter Freidank, DOB 28 Jan 1921. EM issued by 11./KG 30 in spring/summer 1944.

What is the original source for the name in connection with 11/JG 1. I'm not talking about books but archive material.

Erkennungsmarkenverzeichnis of Mob.Nr. 62707 (11./KG 30). No proven connection, but I have not found any other Fw Freidank anywhere else. Therefore possibility.

Re: Fw. Freidank 11./JG1, mia August 23, 1944 over France

Thanks again, gentlemen.
If I understand well, my first info about loss of Fw. Freidank on 25 August 1944 was wrong, there was only one Fw. Freidank, Günter, and he was member of 11./KG 30.

I hope that's my airman, I'm looking for
