Carew Cheriton Beaufighter Crash 24 August 1941

First Beaufighter MKIc crashes that is meant for 236 Squadron as it come into land at Carew Cheriton flown by a Ferry pilot.

Does anyone have the serial, pilots name and/or what actually happened.

Hello Andy,
Serial must be either "R"; "T" or "X".
From the AB series books could only find -
T3310 - 272 - 25/8/41.
X7570 - 25 - 25/8/41.
X7612 - 25 - 25/8/41.
X7612 - 141 - 26/8/41.

Your a/cmust have been returned to service ?

All for now
Alex

Hello Andy,
Could it be this one you seek ?
http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...rmen-24-8-1941

However if it was a Beau then a 1c it would have to be a "T" serial.

If the date is uncertain there are two 236 Sqdn Beau Ic a/c
T4668 - Flaps failed, crash landed Carew Cheriton - 20th January 1942.
T4788 - Engine cut,undercarriage collapsed in heavy landing Carew Cheriton - 6th January 1942.

Alex

T4726 - landing, approached too slowly, stalled, landed 1/2 on leading edge of runway surface and collapsed tail wheel on start of runway hard surface.
