P-61B 42-39445 crash 10 Jan 1945 New Guinea
I refer to https://pacificwrecks.com/aircraft/p-61/42-39445.html
Unauthorized passengers reportedly Army nurse Sgt. Ruth E. Hillman from Buffalo, NY (ASN A-217495) and 2nd Lt. Floyd C. Lovey, who may have been a transport pilot. Looking for additional info about Lt Lovey, assuming spelling is correct. All 4 on board survived, wreckage recovered early 1990s. Pilot Lt Logan G. Southfield an RO Lt. Ben Goldstein. Accident not on the usual websites like aviationarchaeology. Thanks for help, Leendert |

Thanks, had seen links while looking for some info about Lt. Lovey. His name stays elusive.

Re: P-61B 42-39445 crash 10 Jan 1945 New Guinea
Newspaper articles from 1989 spell the surname with 'ay' "Floyd C. Lovay" - almost certainly incorrect.
Findagrave shows "Loveys" as a similar family name. As you probably know there is no trace of "Floyd C. Lovay" or "Floyd C. Lovey" in any currently available family, funerary or U.S. military records (on-line). Floyd is likely not his birth name. |
