Me210 in Japan
Greetings all,
I have get in last time a number of very interesting images and one of them present Me210 in Japan markings. First impression is that it look more like Me410 but anyway I would like to hear few words if you are informed about. Cheers

Re: Me210 in Japan
Srecko,
It appears that a single Me210A-2 was brought to Japan by U-boat. Found no further info so far. Regards, Leendert |

Re: Me210 in Japan
Actualy that was Me210 V22 which was used as testbed for thge later version. it start its life as Me210 but after that it was converted. Fuselage was larger as well power was DB 605. problem is luck of information of service in Japan.
I was wonder about the delivery with U-boat... is there some kind of cargo boat or stndard combat submarine could handle that type of cargo? Sorry about this silly question but I don't know anything about submarines.

Re: Me210 in Japan
The Me 210 did see production (and conversion of earlier airframes) using the long fuselage of the Me 410, retaining the DB601 engines. Unusually, the variant designation remained the same (e.g. Me 201A-1). The DB605 was used on the Me 210C built in Hungary, and presumably intended for Japan.

Re: Me210 in Japan
The German navy had several U-boats converted for transport duties, foremost of the Type IXD series.
An informative U-boat site is http://www.uboat.net/ Regards, Leendert |
