Re: Photo Albatros C.III

Hello,

Currently on delcampe is a photo of Albatros C.III (Bay) 7214 at:

https://www.delcampe.net/de/sammlero...448295228.html

Apparently a training machine as shown by the wooden wheels and quite possibly the reduction in the usual quantity of wings points in the direction of a ground based trainer.

Regards,

Clint.

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of Albatros C.III C.4130/15 in a line up of aircraft at:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Foto-1-Fl...YAAOSwWXNe03vV

I don't have a unit for C.4130/15, so can anyone read the serial on the next aircraft back in line?

Regards,

Clint

Hello,

Currently on ebay is a photo of a badly damaged Albatros C.III C.4054/15 at:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-1-WK-Fl...8AAOSw~51fMpRR

A photo of the same aircraft in an intact state can be found in J Herris Albatros Aircraft of WW.I P.193.

Given wgat can be seen of the serial the aircraft was one of the machines in the range C.1400/16 to C.1404/16 and the wooden wheels would indicate that the machine shown was operated by a training unit.

Re: Photo Albatros C.III

Hi Clint

Given the highly and deeply curved last digit I would rather put my money on C.1400 than either 1402 or 1403.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photo Albatros C.III

Hi Stig,

I quite agree. My first thought was C.1400/16. Hopefully not too coloured by the fact that I've already seen photos of C1401/16 and C.1402/16. It doesn't look like either of those two, but then it wouldn't necessarily as both of those photos show the machines in front line service and the possibility of a change in appearance can't be ruled out. Fingers crossed the seller posts a further image.

Regards,

Clint
