Campaign star award.... even if the pilot didn't take part?

Would a pilot recieve campaign stars on their EAME campaign ribbon for each campaign the unit is credited with, even if they arrived after the unit took part in the campaign?

Genuinely don't know the answer. My thoughts are probably not, but if it is awarded to the unit/group, and they serve with the u it/group, are they eligible?
