Hi Martin

the thread about your Worbey was the following question

Did this man have prior service with 112 Sqn ?

The answer was the mentioning of him being a sergeant in 1943 and later on a NCO in 112 squadron. That basicaly covers the thread.

I did some search on the internet and this is what i found:
check out:

http://www.geocities.com/raf_112_sqdn/112_photos_page_7.html

there is a photo shot at 15 march 1943, Naffitia, Tunisia, depicting 112 Sqn Officers and NCO aircrew after claiming their 200h aerial victory. Worbey is on the photograph.

Also check out:
http://www.mts.net/~robhd1a/planelosses.html
This website describes plane losses of 112 squadron

Entry 279 states:

16/9/43
Kittyhawk Mk. III FL897 / GA A
Flt Sgt Stanley Thomas Worbey, 1380985 NCO# RAFVR gets Off# later
This aircraft was last seen at 12:20hrs at Grid N.6959 flying east, Potenza -Allevino -Vallata road-but failed to return, pilot returned to Sqn later that day.
He is again mentioned in entry 301
Mar 13, 1944

This aircraft hit by AA and abandoned North of Genazzano, He is recorded as a Sgt on 16/9/43 and again on 13/3/44 when he was shot down by flak during an armed recce. He was captured and then subsequently escaped and hid with an Italian farming family waiting for the front line to reach him. News of his release (now a P/Off) reached 112Sqdn in mid June.

Also check out the website of the Shark Squadron no: 112. The squadron had the motto 'Swift in Destruction'
