VOC-2 USS Fanshaw Bay April 1945

Looking at the Fanshaw Bay war diary it states in one instance that VOC-2 shot down five aircraft in that month. However the text only mentions four, and only claims four in a later paragraph.

On 12 April they claimed two Vals and Nate (probably another Val) and lists the claimants. On 16 April the fourth victory, another Val, is claimed but no named claimant.

I don't believe they made any more claims after April. Can anyone shed more light? The claimants on 12 April are Smith, Cantalupi and Mullins. That on 16 April was perhaps a shared claim between several pilots?

best regards

Keith

Re: VOC-2 USS Fanshaw Bay April 1945

Apologies I found the fifth claim. A Val shot down by Ltjg LFD Mullins on 11 May 1945. However the identity of the 16 April 1945 claim is still unknown to me.

The 16 April 1945 claim appears to be a shared one. See https://catalog.archives.gov/id/77665734?objectPage=29
