Re: Information about engine number 37394

Hi,

The engine number 37394 indicates that the engine was a DB605 A-1, built by Henschel-Flugmotorenbau in Kassel. There is no direct connection of the engine number to the Werknummer of specific Bf109G in which that engine was installed.
There were quite a few losses on the 30.01.44 over Holland, so a more precise crash location would help in the effort to identify the aircraft.

A little bit more info on a/c or location would help. I recent years several a/c from 30.1.44 havebeen recovered, including MIA pilots. I assume this question relates to one of the recovered engines?

the number was found on a piece of engine. (years ago) (Apeldoon, Zwolle area) If it can be linked to a work number, we can find out who was in the plane

Ernst-Jan,

There is no hard link between the engine number and the aircraft number. A German Bergemeldung for this crash site does not exist, at least we never found one. It is very unfortunately that no detailed list exists of what exactly has been found during the recovery in 2008.

John
