German Air gunner Kills

I was just wondering has anybody a idea what was the most "kills" achieved by a Luftwaffe air crew gunner in WW2 ? I know a JU88 gunner who has two confirmed kills for shooting down two Spitfires .

Re: German Air gunner Kills

Hello Schnellmeyer,

If memory does not fail me, Obfw Erwin Hentschel, the air-gunner of Hans-Ulrich Rudel obtained 7 victories, until his death. I never see a list of Luftwaffe air-gunners victories (totals) as we do have for RAF air-gunners...I mean for Kampfgeschwader airmen.

Yours, must sincerely

Re: German Air gunner Kills

A number of BF of V/KG 40 or I/ZG 1 were credited with kills-Uffz Gerhard Zimmermann on 11 Apr 44 being one such example

Or lucky-getting a Mossie was also quite a feat. BTW, Alt+0228 will give you ä for Jäger before someone complains

Re: German Air gunner Kills

Ritterkreuztrager Franz Schlund, Bordfunker in the Helbig's crew, was credited with 3 victories, one of them a spitfire during BoB and another by night

German Air gunner Kills

Hi guys

Leutnant Karl-Ludwig Johanssen (RK) who served as Bordfunker to Hauptmann Martin Becker (RK-EL, 58 victories), Gruppenkommandeur of IV./NJG 6, is recorded as having claimed three four-engined bombers on 15 March 1945. However, the victory list included in The Nachtjagd War Diaries by Boiten and Mackenzie identify only two of these victories.

Horrido!

Leo
