Any 97 BG expert on board ?

Hello,
Am seeking details on a B17 named "Yankee Doodle".
Serial number was 42-29473.
From Dick Drain's book it has -
" Original a/c with the 99BG. Transfered to 483BG, 31 March, 44.
Transferred to 97 BG.
Used as weather ship in June and July 1944.
Salvaged in North Africa 9 March 1946".
However I have also - 42-29473 - 97BG, April 13th, 1944 - Szemelyzet, Kiugrott, Hungary (?).
So what happened on the 13th April,44 with this a/c ?
Could there be a connection to MACR 4089 ?

Alex

Ps - Sorry for delay posting, freeze problem it seems.

Alex,
The plane was set on fire, so the crew bailed out and got captured. Except for the pilot, who -when he saw that the fire was out- flew home alone and landed. Plane repaired, scrapped after the war. BTW: személyzet=crew, kiugrott=bailed out. Cheers,
Gabor

Hi Alex, yes, I think so. Between Győr and Lake Balaton - or Yugoslavia. On April 13, 1944 B-24s attacked Budapest, B-17s attacked Győr (from the east, then turned back to the south). Many planes were lost, crew probably abandoned the plane south of Győr.
