Help to ID unit of Bf110C crash 2.1.40.

Hello,

I'm trying to code for a data base four photos of a Bf110C that crashed at a place called Neuenkirchen, presumeably Germany, on 2 January 1940. According to the Quartermaster General reports this plane came down as a result of an engine fire. Does anyone know where Neuenkirken (New Churches) is? When I "Mapquest" this I come up with 10 separate places in Germany called by that name. The QM reports (according to the version published in the Luft Verband Journal a few years ago) attributes the unit for this loss as "KG1." This, of course, is a bomber unit instead of a zerstörer unit. I would have expected I./ZG1. Can anyone confirm where in Germany this Neuenkirchen is, confirm the unit involved, or provide any info on the crew involved or a story of the incident?

Thanx,

Larry, try Neunkirchen instead of Neuenkirchen and you'll have another 10 possibilities
