RAF Scampton bomb explosion 29 August 1940

Hi guys

A bomb explosion on 29 August 1940 at RAF Scampton killed two airmen and wounded 13 other personnel, including two ladies, a Mrs Townhill and a Miss Reed.

What was the cause of the explosion? And who were the ladies?

Any help appreciated.

I have the names of the two missing not killed and 3 injured; there is no mention of the ladies injured. Records just say bomb explosion

Whilst i have your respective and respected attention - are you able to advise whether 18 August 1940 Kenley severely wounded WAAF nursing orderly Mary Coulthard was an officer?
