Re: Combat - engagements 13 Sqn combat claims

I have some combat reports for 13 Sqn, the following information shows that a few successful skirmishes were held between both Lysanders of this sqn and Luftwaffe aircraft.

11 May 40 - Lysander L4765, crewed by P/O Hurndall and Midwinter, location Fovet de Meevdael. Reported as a swarm of 5x either He112 or Me109 This Lysander had to do a runner from the large amount of enemy aircraft, and escaped for cloud cover.

13 May 40 - Lysander L4764, crewed by P/O Hurndall and CPL Booth, location South of Louvain. Me109s dived on their lone Lysander.

There is another occasion that F/L Blackwood and his A/G, Sgt Watts, shot up 2 Me109s, Watts one his DFM for this. Until I have seen Blackwood's Log Book next month I am unable to confirm the exact date for this combat action.

If anyone has information from a German POV of the possible engagements for the first 2 that would be good. Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Danny

Surely this should be on the Luftwaffe Board? Without times, this will be hard to answer on such busy days and as the Luftwaffe only submitted combat reports for confirmed victories, harder still. No He 112s would have been involved and from what I can see the first 2 did not claim anything against the Luftwaffe?

Chris,

Happy if it needs to be moved. I have managed to work out combat times, I hope this helps. Yes, they did not claim any results from the RAF side and only a engagement.

1) 16.35-45Hrs

2) 12.55Hrs

Thanks

Danny
