NEI bomber operations Singapore/Sumatra/Java 1942

Hi guys

I'm seeking information regarding NEI bomber operations over Singapore, Sumatra and Java 1942. Articles and books (English language preferably?) would be a bonus - though I don't read Dutch and would need some help!

Cheers
Brian

Try the aviation megastore, based at Schiphol airport

https://www.aviationmegastore.com/ca...rlands-15.html

A quick check gives two titles that might be of interest

De val van Java, Verslagen en Verdreven, de Marineluchtvaartdienst na de inval van Japan in Nederlands Indië in 1942 (Geromy 9789491197772)

Aircraft of the Netherlands East Indies Army Air Corps in Crisis and Wartimes February 1937 - June 1942 (Bataafsche Leeuw 9789067076852)

Not my area of interest so cannot comment on coverage

Generally I find Dutch books to be of better quality than an equivalent UK one, though that might be luck in the ones I have bought

If you know a bit of German, then Dutch is not that bad and sometimes is a bit closer to the English

The shop is good and does mail order

Martin

Brian,

The Loss of Java: The Final Battles for the Possession of Java Fought by Allied Air, Naval and Land Forces in the Period 18 February-7 March 1942 by P.C. Boer looks promising. You can also find some interesting articles by Peter Boer on https://independent.academia.edu/PeterBoer

Cheers

Re: NEI bomber operations Singapore/Sumatra/Java 1942

Thanks Martin and Peter

I have just ordered a copy of Peter Boer's 'The Loss of Java'

However, I would ideally like to acquire/compile a complete list on Martin 139 losses (together with crews) for Singapore/Sumatra/Java 1942.

Perhaps one of our Dutch friends may be able to help?

Cheers
Brian

Brian

If it is the specific aircraft details you are after I suggest you buy Aircraft of the Netherlands East Indies Army Air Corps by the same Peter Boer.
Published in 2016 it was (then) the final treatment of the subject.

I have previously referred to this book on another of your topics.

Since the Martin bomber was a real 'major' for the Dutch the number of pages in the book dealing with the type are some 80.

I have sent you two pages with scans from it so you can see what it's like and its presentation serial number by serial number.

Cheers
Stig

Hi Brian,
Check your e-mails, two on the way with a few relevant scans.
