Hi,
Please which Luftwaffe unit(s) bombed of he city of Blois on Sunday 16 june 1940. Blois is settled in central France on the Loire river, between tours and Orléans. We recorded 2 air raids on the morning on the 16 June and at least one another on 17 June 1940.
Thank you

Hi/Bonjour Phil,

Perhaps bombers from Kampfgeschwader 27 Boelcke. For June 17 we have this an information in the “Chronik” written by Walter Waiss. (Excerpt) […] III./KG 27 (7. Staffel) - Ground attack with the Kette on the Loire bridge at Blois. […]

Best regards,
Frederic

Bonjour Frédéric,
Yes, I think your are right. Thank you very much indeed. I thought about this bomber unit - or KG 2 - but I have got no materials testifying the engaged unit. So KG 27 seems to be the one.
You confirm my feelings.
Thank you.
Have good researches !
Phil.

Robert wrote "elements", which means that only parts of the above-mentionned units were used. It could have been a whole Gruppe or only one or two Staffeln.

Hi,

exactly I wrote "elements" - probably single sections.
On this day the Luftwaffe activity (In the "northern" sector) was focused on retreating French army troops in the area of Orleans-Tours.

Regards

Robert
