R-5 biplane bomber flown by Russian soldier?

Hi guys

Re-reading old posts, I noted the following:

16/17 September 1942, an R-5 of 668-NBAP was flown on a night bombing missions by a Krasnoarmeyets (private soldier), with a St/Lt as navigator.

The soldier/pilot was one P.K. Kovakin, who was posted missing together with the unidentified navigator.

It sounds an interesting story. Can one of our Russian experts add anything?

Cheers
Stay safe

Brian
