Re: RAF claims and total losses

i have only of BoB:
RAF claimed 2,698 kills
Luftwaffe claimed 3,198 kills ¿? (i have only over 2300 with unconfirmed!!)
Each source have different info:
RAF TOTAL LOSSES:
650
915
930
1087
1140 and 710 severely damaged
1173
1547 (with Bomber command and Coast commands)

(Bomber command lost 376 and Coast commands lost 148 for all causes)
total: between 1174 (650+376+148) -(1173+376+148)1697
.......
GERMAN TOTAL LOSSES:
1100
1733
1563
1652
1887
*************************
LOSSES RAF Luftwaffe
July (from10th) 90 165
August 399 612
September 416 554
October 182 321
Total 1087 1652
------------------------------
another version:
July
..RAF: 70
..LUF: 134
August
..RAF: 359
..LUF: 554
Sept.
..RAF: 351
..LUF: 558
Oct.
..RAF: 150
..LUF: 317
..RAI: 2 (Regia Aeronotica Italiana)

For a total amount for the period of:
RAF: 930
LUF: 1,563

Then, Bickers concludes by saying that post-war investigation true figures came actually to:
RAF: 915
LUF: 1,733
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder what is Herr Edmund L. Blandford's source about the British losses in battle of Britian, however according to British's official record, Fighter command lost 1023 aircrafts, Bomber command lost 376 and Coast commands lost 148 for all causes, it was general belived Luftwaffe overclaimed about 3 to 1 in battle of France and Battle of Britian, and it may make you feel better, RAF and later USAF overclaimed at least as much as Luftwaffe.
for raid of Dieppe raid, you shall remember that between 1942 to first half of 1944, JG 1, JG 2, JG 26 and JG 11 may made the most accurate claims among fighter units of all nations in WWII, about 70% accurate, but there were some good reasons for this, they were on defensive, each units had its own region of opertive, there were no battle on the land. so it was not surprised that after allies landing at Normande, the overclaime of Luftwaffe in west Europ increased dramatically again.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
British Casualties: 1,547 aircraft; 27,450 dead civilians, 32,138 wounded civilians; 498 RAF pilots
German Casualties: 1,887 aircraft

On 22 June 1941 German claims against the Russian Air Force numbered 322 aerial kills against Soviet admissions of 336 lost in air combat.
The Dieppe raid of 19 August 1942 saw 112 claims by JG 2 and JG 26 against a total loss of 106 by the RAF.
.......................................
there are many versions....
i hope this help

Re: RAF claims and total losses

However don't be distracted by the just the numbers; of the 106 RAF/USAAC aircraft lost during the Dieppe raid, 51 were lost to causes other than by being shot down by aircraft. As far as can be determined these losses were as follows, 36 shot down by flak, 3 by bomber return fire, 4 by Allied friendly fire and 8 due to accidents. So for the Lufwaffe 113 claims (69 JG2, 38 JG26, 5 KG40 and 1 1.(F)123) it seems probable that only 55 aircraft were actually lost due to their actions.

Regards

Steve

322 is total kill, including fighters, bombers gunners and A/A. Total for jager (Me 109) was of course smalle one - 265, anyway it was of course overclaiming, real Soviet losses due to air fighting, + A/A etc. (not of couse destroyed on the ground) was about 180-210 Soviet planes.
