first 109

The first 109 appears to belong to Stab I./JG 27.

Thanks Ed,

Don

The first photo group http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6152154585 shows a couple of French Vought SB2U Vindicators at Flughafen Boulogne-Alprecht.

I have a photo of my grandfather standing by one these planes!

Thanks for the link Ed - I didn't know until now where in France the photo was taken.

You are very welcome. In my research, it is most gratifying when I can assist someone with providing some new information involving a relative.

MiG 3

Dear Don,

looking at the rings on the spinner in different colours, could it be that the plane was originally a part of the Nomandie Njemen squadron, served with the Red Airforce and consisted of french pilots?

greetings from the sunny costa blanca

Horst

possible French connection...

While that may seem possible, read the following:

http://vvs.hobbyvista.com/Mybook/res...-research.html

"The problem here is that no French material on the NN describes their combat employment using any aircraft save for Yak fighters (the Yak-7, then Yak-1b, Yak-9, Yak-9T, and Yak-3). "

Not much evidence to support it,

Don

Hi !
This Mig 3 seems to have a SKZ : somebody knows the full code ?
Nice subject for a model kit.
The rudder and the cowling seem to be yellow. Another photo of a german MiG 3 shows a such plane but without code.
Thank you to all
Von Alles
