Mc 200 loss on 26 June 1941
Hello,
According to an Italian forum a Mc 200 of 84a Squadriglia ditched off Reggio di Calabria on 26 June 1941. The pilot name is given as S.ten Allessandro Valignani, but his fate is not given. I will be interested to have confirmation of the above, and to learn the fate of the pilot and if possible the serial of the aircraft. Thanks in advance Laurent |

Re: Mc 200 loss on 26 June 1941
Dear Laurent,
according with the book of Gen. Duma, the unofficial history of 4° Stormo, the plane ditched short of the airfield for fuel exaustion after an escort flight for a convoy of merchant ships and sank under 40 metres of water. Alessandro Valignani was rescued by some fishermen and survived. Don't have the sewrial number of the plane. ciao Ludovico |

Thanks Ludovico for the quick answer
The serial would have been a bonus, the fate of pilot was what I was really after. Best regards |
