II/KG 4 at Amsterdam, Jun 40

Does anyone have any confirmation that II (in particular 6 Staffel)/KG 4 ever operated out of Amsterdam-Schiphol and apart from Hptm Storp of 8/KG 4 on 3 Jun 40, did any other Ju 88s crash-land on the airfield prior to 18 Jun 40?

Do you have access to Ab Jansen's Schiphol books?

Ok, I'll take a look later this evening and see if it answers your question(s).

Re: II/KG 4 at Amsterdam, Jun 40

Others with hard data will probably be able to give you better info, but from Fliegerhorst Schiphol by Ab Jansen, it looks like:

Only III./KG 4 Operated from Schiphol

First as a staging area, later in 1940 as their operational field.

Specifically listed are:

June 13th
Ju 88 A-1 5J+JT Wnr 244
crew killed

No mention of II./KG 4

There's a 2./KG 30 Ju 88 4D+BZ that crashed on take off on July 13th.

The other Gruppen operated from Eindhoven and Soesterberg.

But I guess you'll probably have more in depth information than I can provide from a book

This one crashed near Amsterdam, so maybe not in Schipol, II.KG4 didn't operate Ju88, but He111P, just the III. Group operates Junkers

Re: II/KG 4 at Amsterdam, Jun 40

Ruy/Remi: Reason why I ask is I have 2 photos of a 6/KG 4 crew looking over a crash-landed Ju 88 and according to the back, photo was taken at Amsterdam. This crew was shot down on 19 Jun 40 so rules out 13 Jul crash and the fact that the ac is fairly intact probably rules out 13 Jun crash which leads me towards Storp's crash-landing 3 Jun 40

I'll dig some more into Jansen this evening, perhaps there are better candidates.
