Re: Ju88 A-5 W.Nr. 2203 - Info Needed

After some repairable damages in Feb and Jun 1941, on 12 Aug 1942 shot down by Italian fighter and Flak when mistaken for an Allied aircraft. This over Sardinia, 5./LG 1, L1+ON

Regards,
Leendert

Hello Mike,

the GQM loss documents say:

F Oblt Helmut Gerlich vermisst
B Uffz Helmut Strähle vermisst
Bf Uffz Joachim Gumpert vermisst
Bs Uffz Adam Boterwiech vermisst

Correction 28 Aug 1942: Ursache: durch italienischen Jäger abgeschossen.
Oblt Gerlich gefallen, Uffz Strähle, Uffz Gumpert verletzt zurück.

Addition 5 Sep 1942: Ändere Werk-Nr. 140073 in 2203 (Ju 88 A-4).

Hi

140073 > 2203 = 142203 was L1+GN

Rottler / Jo Me
You are confusing three aircraft, info was on Ju 88 A-5 0882203 V4+IV (not A-4).
Besides there is doupt on the amendment on L1+GN is correct as there
is second A-4 ´2203 loss in 10.1942. I do keep A-4 140073 and A-4 142203 info
but amendment is a sidenote. But amendment might be correct, but spurious,
but then not a W.Nr. but a "Production Line Number" (fuselage Serial).
A line number is known close to 140073 manufactoring month that suggests so,
but does not prove it.
